Fall 2020 Art + Design Merit Scholarship Show

 

Art + Design Merit Scholarship Awardees

    The NEIU Art + Design Community website was encharged of putting together a virtual show for the Art + Design Merit Scholarship awardees. Our department provides an opportunity for students to apply in the Fall & Spring semesters, and later hosts an exhibition to celebrate the accomplishments of its student awardees. 

Due to the current circumstances, our Fall 2020 show had to be postponed but we believe our students deserve to be recognized for their hard work. 

Congratulations to our Fall 2020 awardees! 

We reached out to two of our awardees and here´s what they shared with us regarding their virtual experience:

Brandi Nevarez Pink Granient

"When I was first awarded the art merit scholarship, I never thought how much of a life saver that scholarship would actually be in the long run, especially in regards to paying for tuition. Now in the year 2021, I was again awarded the merit scholarship, although this time under different circumstances. Since the pandemic, many things have changed, such as the absence of an on campus show. Now the show takes place online, which is actually a great idea, since now the show can reach a greater audience, without having to leave the comfort of your own home. Now anybody can see the show, and if anything, this can help boost the neiu art community blog. I’m glad to see the staff and school take precaution over the students safety, and to take such measures to make sure students are able to still learn at home. Above all anything, I am happy to be here, especially during these tough times, and I’m thankful to be awarded and involved with this year's online show for the art merit scholarship of 2021. Thank you, and I wish for everyone to stay safe and to keep on thriving.
